I am a native Detroiter, and have been doing portrait work since the late 1970's. I work in different media: charcoal, pencils, conte crayon, oils and egg tempera. My endeavors began with a study and collection of Native American Indian portraits (check out my website: www.livingartwork.com). In recent years, my skills and interests have broadened to the study of icons and iconology. I continue to pursue the ancient crafts of egg-tempera and gilding in my quest to preserve and follow historical traditions. My most current works focus on the religious art found inside the historical churches of downtown Detroit. I hope to expand community awareness of these native treasures. I am thrilled to be a part of, “Art to Change the World”, here at Fountain Street Church. To me, Mother Teresa's portrait is a reminder to us of social justice. Her work was the very act of meeting basic human needs.
