Jan Mulder

Schoolcraft, MI, United States

Jan Vander Kooi, (Mulder), is not only recognized by her peers as a portrait painter but is considered by many to be a student of classical realism. She is a native of Zeeland, Michigan and has studied at the Southern Atelier and with nationally known artists David Leffel, Rob Liberace, Ralph Garafolo, and Charles Miano. Her style of painting either tells a story or evokes a memory. Her subjects range from figure and portrait to landscape and still life. As a result of her world travels, she enjoys painting people from a variety of cultures, capturing their customs and costumes, ( Blue jeans and tennis shoes are slowly becoming every country's apparel) . She is a member of the National Portrait Society, Oil Painters of America, Bright Light Guild, Holland Friends of Art, Holland Area Arts Council and Zeeland Artists' Collective. She has won numerous awards and her work has been purchased by many local institutions and Hope College.
