Studies In Light and Form The Chicago Seven and Michigan Avenue Bridge Sculptures

2012 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

This monumental “double triptych” was conceived and begun in 1987 and will take approx. 8000 hours (four solid years) to soon be completed in September of 2012. Each drawing is a separate, stand-alone work of art that can be enjoyed as such; or can be displayed in different combinations. Furthermore, the full suite of six can be repositioned with both "The Wrigley and Tribune" and “The South Side Spires" triptychs facing each other on opposite walls. Standing between them, this creates the encircling illusion of viewing all the Bridge Sculptures and the many towering buildings from the north and south banks of the Chicago River - simultaneously. As the southern entrance to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, with the lake to the east and the winding river forking to the west, the Michigan Avenue Bridge is the axis of the most beautiful, dramatic, and dynamic city-scape on earth. This exhibit is the ultimate test of the artist’s talent, patience, and determination, and will never be equaled.
