A native born Chicagoan, Jack Nixon excelled in history, art, and technical, architectural, and engineering drawing in his youth. He developed formal composition at the Cleveland Institute of Art, earning a BFA in Graphic Design. Shortly afterwards, he received a number of merits, including two national design and calligraphy awards from Communication Arts Magazine in San Francisco. After illustrating private homes and public buildings on the North Shore, he focused on Chicago's renouned architecture in and around the Loop for print publishing. Inspired by the great Italian and French architectural water- colorists, illustrators and engravers of the 18th & 19th centuries, the artist’s life work is to edition America's ornate stone and terra cotta facades and monuments that can rival the old European masters.
