Southfield, MI, United States

I was captivated by the art of clay sculpting when I attended a show featuring Rodin and Claudel at the DIA. With excitement I began the journey of studying sculpture art at the College for Creative Studies, Bloomfield/Birmingham Art Center, and mentored six years under master sculptor Janice Trimpe. My work reflects the use of a combination of engineering principles and various technologies that are fused into a single artistic expression. This latest collection of pieces, submitted for the 2017 Art Prize competition, reflects the integration of clay sculpting, mold making, and fusion of mixed metal casting technologies. In the series “Legends”, I try to capture the musical intensity of legendary music artists by amplifying the 3D effects of traditional Alto relief sculpting that literally extends beyond the frame holding the art piece.
