When do I register for ArtPrize 2013?
Venue Registration
- Opens: Monday, March 11 at Noon EDT
- Closes: Thursday, April 11 at 5:00 p.m. EDT
Who can be a venue?
Any space within the ArtPrize boundaries can be a venue or host a venue for someone else. See the venue Eligibility and Rules for more information.
How do I become a venue?
The first step is to register your venue during March 11, 2013 to April 11, 2013. Once you register your venue you will go through an approval process. Then artist registration will open on April 22. You’ll be able to begin browsing registered artists. Connections will begin on April 29. During the connections process you may contact artists, and artists will contact you. During connections, you need to negotiate a hosting agreement with each of your artists. You have until June 20, 2013 to secure connections on artprize.org with your artists. After June 20, 2013, you are unable to secure additional artists.
How much does it cost to be a venue?
We charge a $100 non-refundable application fee to be a venue in ArtPrize.
Do you accept credit cards, cash or check?
We currently accept all major credit cards. We do not accept payment by check or cash.
Is my application fee refundable if I do not secure a venue?
No, it is a non-refundable application fee.
What are the hours my venue has to be open?
See Venue Eligibility.
If my venue is outdoor or is accessible from the outside, do I need to keep my venue open?
No, as long as your art is accessible during the minimum open hours you do not have to have your venue open to the public.
Can multiple people manage my venue?
Yes, you will have the ability to add managers in the registration process.
Is there a limit to the number of photos I can upload?
No. You can add as many images as you like to give artists a clear sense of your space.
Does ArtPrize pick the art that will show in my venue?
No, as a venue host, you will be expected to review proposals from artists requesting space within your venue. Learn more about the connections process.
Can I show my own work in my venue?
You can register your venue and show your own work in that venue. However, you must also register as and artist and connect with your venue.
How do I connect with an artist?
Through the Connections process on artprize.org. Register as a venue and begin your connections process.
What is the Hosting Agreement?
The Hosting Agreement is a contract between an artist and the venue hosting the entry. It is vital for artist and venue to know exactly what to expect from each other during the event. Learn more about it here.
What if I need to cancel a connection with an artist during the connections period?
If you complete a connection with an artist, then you and the artist agree to terminate this connection during the connections period, please e-mail the venue relations team at venues@artprize.org and explain the situation.
Will my venue be inspected by the City and will there be and fees?
There is a possibility that city inspectors will want to visit your venue and talk about your exhibition. See City & Boundaries for more details.
I want to register my venue for a permanent mural, is there anything I need to do?
Yes. There is a process you have to go through with the the city to have this approved. See City & Boundaries for more details.
Will ArtPrize provide volunteers for my venue?
No. ArtPrize volunteers are for voter registration, event way finding and ArtPrize stores. Venues must arrange for their own support during the event.
Do venues have to provide insurance for artwork?
It is between the artists and venue to determine how insurance is covered but it can be more cost effective for venues to consider adding it to their policy. Seen Insurance for more details.
When will I receive Artprize logos?
Once connections is complete we will distribute venue seals to all of the venues. You can reference our Logo Usage Guideline for questions on how to use our logo.
Can I charge a commission on art sales from my venue?
Yes. We recommend that you only do this if you are actively assisting artists in making sales. Any sales arrangements must be clearly stated in the Hosting Agreement and be agreed upon my both the venue and artist.
