Greg Secor is on the faculty of Grand Valley State University and Hope College, where he directs the percussion program and teaches courses in music literature. He is a member of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and frequently performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. Secor is a member of the award winning Opus 21: Music Without Boundaries Ensemble. This group performs works for duo percussion as well as premiering ensemble compositions ranging from jazz, classical, rock to world music. He is a member with Judy Moonert of the Coalescence Percussion Duo. The duo’s roots began with a performance of Luciano Berio’s “Circles” as part of the Fontana Chamber Arts in 1999. Secor has commissioned and premiered several works for solo percussion including works by Rupert Kettle, Pieter Snapper, Joel Harrison and Christopher Deane. New works for the Coalescence Percussion Duo by Bill Ryan, C Curtis-Smith David Lang and others. He also performed and recorded with the GVSU New Music Ensemble on their acclaimed Reich: Music for 18 Musicians and Riley: In C Remixed recordings on Innova.
