Gina Wolfrum is a contemporary artist who found her artistic voice after leaving the stress of corporate banking and relocating to a farm in rural Ohio. Utilizing the classical art instruction of her youth, she delved into the world of decorative art and murals for the past 20 years. During that time, Wolfrum studied under masters in studios around the US and became inspired in Italy to develop her use of color, texture and natural elements. The freedom to express her love of nature by incorporating natural minerals into her paintings was a breakthrough in creativity. One example is the use of semi-precious crystals, crushed glass, and sleek mica in shorelines as her interpretation of sparkling water and shorelines. As an artist, Gina is intensely inspired by nature, most of her paintings are some form of landscape or natural element. Her work has been featured in books, made the cover of two trade journals, been featured on television and on various websites. Private sales and commissioned works, as well as feeling the need to step back from the physicality of the decorative arts business, was the catalyst for her transition into focusing her creativity onto textural paintings.
