it was for you
My son and I were talking about a tattoo that he wanted me to draw for him. He wanted something like a crucifix, but not the whole thing. I sketched just a part of the arm nailed to the cross, where it looked like it was coming out of the paper. I kept sketching it differently and finally decided I should do a wood carving. It grew in scale as I pictured it and decided to carve it for art prize. It is a large two piece carving connected together. The cross beam is poplar wood. The arm is Walnut. it is just the hand and 3/4 of the arm of Jesus nailed to a portion of the cross. I have a spike carved out of mahogany. The parts were designed to look like they are coming out of the wall. Larger than life size the had is roughly 6 1/2" across the palm. The title for this is the feeling I got when I was sketching the idea, it doesn't matter who you are, it was for you. This piece is for sale if anyone is interested.
