Juxtaposed between the city skyline and the three mounds that honor the Hopewell burial grounds and the tribes native to the area, this sculpture draws upon the movement of society and individuals from an agrarian state to one driven by industry. Originally constructed of flat pieces of 4 x 8 steel, the representation of steel I-Beams emerging from the ground continues the theme of society’s “progress”. Regardless how sturdy it may be today, as a rusty piece of steel, it will eventually decay and return to its origins. The form of the sculpture abstractly representing a person carrying a lifeless other suggests no matter how strong we are as a person, this part of our existence is only temporary as well. The subtle movement of the sculpture observed when the wind blows continues the theme that There Is Nothing So Strong to be devoid of the primacy of nature.

Outdoor installation requiring a 6"x6" vertical hole 40" deep for the base. It could also be installed on a hard surface requiring a secure plate. Give its size, it is wonderfully imposing.
