Frank Conner is a psychologist, college professor, and direct-metal artist. As a psychologist, the use of art as a tool for self awareness has been at the center of Frank’s work for many years. Because of the power of art in transforming others, Frank decided to dedicate even a larger portion of his life to the development of his own creativity. In 2001, Frank traveled to Italy to study with the artists Shelley Berc and Alejandro Fogel. Directly after returning to Michigan he started his journey with Holly Fisher at the SmartShop Metal Working School. Frank spent several years learning from the various teachers and artists who collaborated under the Smartshop Metal Arts Collective. In 2005, Frank established his own studio in Ada, Michigan. Since then, Frank has displayed his art at various juried art shows and accepted commissions for unique sculptures. Frank continues to practice his craft while attempting to expand his own art through experience, observation, and formal education.
These are Frank's official ArtPrize entries from this year and past years.
