Northern Bend

2012 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

“Northern Bend” is a multi screen computer simulation of a 1900's era Lake Michigan Steamer. The 'Captain' stands in a simulated ship’s bridge and steers his steamer down a fictitious Michigan river to the city of "Northern Bend". The Captain will steam past lakeshore businesses of the era seeing slices of life from the turn of the 20th century and navigate through a busy harbor avoiding other ships and obstacles. The captain sets a course for Lake Michigan where he encounters a beautiful sunset but soon experiences fog and rough seas. Decisions made from the game play help determine his fate as he either clears the storm or capsizes and sinks to be another of the over 1500 documented Great Lakes Shipwrecks. This 8 minute immersive simulation will be both educational and an adventure.
