The Eros & Agape Project

Eros & Agape

The Eros & Agape Project is a creative collaboration uniting the written word with visual arts. Based on a series of narratives, E&A explores the topics of love, duty, and war from antiquity to the present day. These stories comprise a book containing a collection of prose, written by Zachary Gruchow - US Army Veteran and illustrated by Erwin Erkfitz - artist and creative community leader. The installation features monotype screenprints interpreted from the book’s illustrations. Selections from the series of prints will be shown at different times throughout Artprize 2014. The installation is accompanied by intermittent readings by the author within the venue. Eros – a passionate, physical and emotional love based on aesthetic enjoyment; stereotype of romantic love. Agape – unconditional, selfless love; charity, duty, or the affinity to one’s country or creator

About Eros & Agape

Going back to early 2005 Zak and Erwin have been conspiring to collaborate with their words and visuals. The Eros & Agape project is the final result of that plan. For the past 3 years Erwin has been designing a way to visually share Zak's stories of war and love that were first scribed during his Army Service in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2005-2010.
