Ellen Messner Rogers grew up in Massachusetts, and prior to becoming a full-time artist, earned her BA at Harvard and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Tufts University. After a career as a wildlife conservation veterinarian in Africa, she returned to school and received her BFA from the Maine College of Art. Rogers’ artwork, based on her extensive fieldwork in Africa, expresses her love of animals while simultaneously reflecting on anthrozoology (human-animal relations) and visual representation of animals in the contemporary world. She has shown her work in Maine, New York, Tennessee, Michigan, and Beijing, China. You can see a short video of Ellen's work in Africa at this link: http://youtu.be/X_pS3A218GA
