500 Fortunes (A window of opportunity won't open itself)
This piece is made up of 7 paintings. The largest is 4' x 4' and is a composition that incorporates 500 fortunes from fortune cookies into a painting of a large nest. Hanging above the large painting in a row are 6 smaller paintings (7" x 7") of bowls with various numbers of eggs inside each one. This work is a tongue-in-cheek response to the continuing question of finding hope when the plans we have made in our lives have altered. I am exploring the concept of the rebuilding and restructuring of perceived safe spaces. These paintings compare and contrast the structural spaces of a nest made up of fortunes and bowls made up of porcelain.
