Adoremus
2012 ArtPrize Entry“Adoremus” is a painting with purpose; In artspeak, it “puts function over form.” The piece is not a copy, but is influenced by a multitude of sacred paintings produced by artistic forebears throughout the ages. The purpose of “Adoremus” is to give glory to The Christ through visuals that point to Holy Scripture. It isn’t just a pretty picture. By using images that are seemingly out of context, the painting puts Holy Scripture into context. Symbolism points out of the past and future to The Christ at His birth. For The Savior’s birth, death and resurrection, we join in the ancient hymn “O Come All Ye Faithful” and sing “Come let us worship the Lord.” -- “Venite Adoremus Dominum.”
