Maasai Women of Kenya
2012 ArtPrize EntryThe oil painting that I am entering in Artprize was derived from photographs that I took while on a safari in 2007. It is a painting of 11 women of the Maasai tribe. Their attire is very colorful and they take pride in the many pieces of jewelry that they wear. The long cover-ups seem to protect them from the heat. They keep their heads shaved because of the hot weather and their feet and legs are of a light color from the sandy terrain.
