All American Brother

A love of people and a deep interest in the human experience is key to my work. Currently I am working on a series of black and white portraits with colorful head coverings. The concept is to capture the spirit and uniqueness of the individual as a whole rather than to identify them in regard to color, race or creed. My proposal for Artprize is represented by this sketch titled "All American Brother". This painting relates to the working middle class and portrays the proud identity of the subject to his country as evidenced by his American eagle bandana. He is in mid life, looking forward to the future with the essence of the past behind him. The image shown here is a preliminary watercolor sketch or study of the proposed work which will be a very similar painting created on a larger scale with extreme attention to detail.
