Donald Cronkhite spent several summers studying paintings in European museums and used these as inspiration as he began his own painting career. 2017 marks thirteen years of creating his series of cloudscape paintings. Early on, he focused on storm-swept landscapes, using fluid and rough oil painting techniques. Later he progressed to large-scale canvases that focused specifically on storm clouds themselves, capturing the moment just before a storm. Cronkhite holds a BFA from Wayne State University and is represented by a gallery in Chicago.
