My mother was an accomplished seamstress and began teaching me to sew when I was eleven years old. My love of textiles and creating clothing and home decor has continued throughout my life and provided me with endless opportunities to express my creativity. Eighteen years ago, I took my first quilting class and it became my new passion. After retiring from a rewarding career as a school counselor, I was able to fully devote my time to the art of quilting. I can be moved by a wonderful quilt pattern that someone else has designed and feel compelled to make my version of it or sit down at my computer and spend hours designing my own. Designing, piecing and quilting a quilt born of my own creativity is a process that can only be described as joyful. Part of the wonder of quilting is that there is always so much more to learn about every aspect of the art. There are always new challenges to be met and new skills to practice and acquire. Thanks, Mom.
