I have always been inspired and amazed by fantasy art. I have always wanted to create creatures and settings that don’t exist in our world. I am also attracted to both universal and unconventional beauty. I love portraying a popular subject in a new, modern, original way, or challenging preconceptions by portraying something beautiful in a way that is somehow contrary to the norm. In my portraits, I am often trying to convey feelings of innocence, peacefulness, natural harmony, and wonder. I want my portraits to “come to life”. I want them to be as realistic as possible so that they will have a powerful emotional effect on the viewer. I would like my portraits to tell a story, but I would like my viewers to create and add on to the story. I am greatly inspired by the Victorian era, the fantasy world, many artists throughout history (most notably M C Escher, Bouguereau, Boris Valejo, and Larry Elmore) and many friends in the various art groups to which I belong.
