Back to My Roots
My entry is called Back to My Roots. The meaning behind it is that for years I've been a graphic designer making a living that way but my passion is working with charcoal and illustrating life-like people and environments. It's been 15 years since I have touched charcoal and used it in a drawing. The basis of this work is to have my daughters' faces at the bottom or base of a illustrative family tree and have other family members within it further up the tree. The size of the work will end up being close to 7' x 8' made of charcoal sheet panels. For me this piece means many things like the appreciation and love of family and the appreciation and love of the art. Special thanks to my good friend Dean Van Dis and taking great photos of my girls.
