2011 ArtPrize Entry

My pictures are single, long exposures. They are not digitally created or photo manipulations. I take several exposures before I get creations that I like. Sometimes the results are what I had visioned...somtimes the results are unexpected. The unexpected results are often more intriguing. For me, this is when "art" happens. Many times we plan out all the details of our creations. While technically what we make is sound and pleasing to the eye, it often lacks emotion or feeling. When we play in the medium of our choice and give ourselves over to spontaneity truely beautiful things can happen. My pictures are an exploration of the mind. Where does creativity come from? How does our train of thought connect the dots of new ideas? This collection of pictures is an attempt to express the behavior and creative processes of my mind.
