Tonku Truck

2011 ArtPrize Entry
Add to Collection

I started building the Tonku Truck in Oct-2010. I started with the frame of a 1992 Jeep Cherokee. I disassembled it down to the frame and I built a full size Tonku Truck on it. I used various thickness of metal mostly 16 & 20 Gage sheet metal along with 1" square tubing. I painted it yellow like the real Tonka I played with as a kid but I am unable to use the Tonka name due to royalty issues. I have gotten a lot of positive response and like hearing stories about the Tonka Trucks other people grew up with. There was a lot of long hours and long weekends and it was worth it. Pushing a Tonka as a kid was fun but driving my Tonku as an adult is even more fun.
