Coit Creative Arts Academy is the elementary ARTS school for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. The original building was built in 1880 and it is the oldest working school in Michigan. In 2002 it became an arts school. As a result, families have moved into the neighborhood specifically to send their children to Coit Creative Arts Academy. Because of this, the neighborhood is more art savvy than most others. It is conveniently located just a few blocks from the Medical Mile and within walking distance to downtown. With school budgets as they exist, being an exhibitor at Coit Creative Arts Academy is a wonderful nod to the dedication artists feel toward arts education for our children.

Artist & Connection Information

Coit Creative Arts Academy is an elementary school dedicated to reaching academic excellence through integration of the arts. Artists are not required to exhibit children themed art but are asked to make sure art is child friendly. The venue has OUTSIDE exhibition space available only. We offer many great OUTDOOR spaces for three dimensional art. Coit accepts only FREESTANDING art which can be exhibited on our school grounds. Art may NOT be mounted on the building. We are just blocks from the hospital and have LOTS of walking traffic. We also work closely with the North Monroe neighborhood association to promote our venue.
