My paintings are a combination of scientific observation and magic. My work is also expressive. I'm grateful to all the women who've posed for me; they inspire my vision and represent more than a single identity: they contain the radiance and beauty in every woman. I'm a self-taught painter, which means I do everything wrong. I received my MFA in 1993 from WMU--in Poetry, not Art. But I've painted over 1,000 paintings in the past 5 years (I'm like that). I've been in eight art shows and even won an award. My paintings are an extension of my poetry; I can get directly to the image without having to mess with all those words. I paint women because they're beautiful.
