Be still
2012 ArtPrize EntryThe world has forgotten that rest is essential to survival. I intend to do something about that. “Be Still” is a contemporary sculpture exploring the iconic Adirondack chair form, a symbol of relaxation. Our world is a place where busy, faster and extreme have become benchmarks for success. To be still is so spiritually necessary yet so elusive. Hand-formed from a single sheet of surgical stainless steel, the composition features a Trinity theme evidenced by 3 main tangents intertwining to form the body, 3 bolts that join the arms and 3 points of ground contact. You become wrapped in rather than passively seated on this chair. Psalm 46:10
