Sunny Side Up

As a thank-you gift a friend brought me a huge bouquet of sunflowers. I immediately put them in my favorite vase. Delighted with them, I put them on my kitchen table. In the bright summer sunlight they seemed to glow. Facinated by the rich colors and wonderful textures I knew I had to paint them. I took them outside and against the backdrop of a cloudless electric blue sky I took many photos of them, this painting is the result.
