I am primarily a self-taught artist. I like to explore many mediums and techniques – most of them non-traditional. I tend to “think outside the box” and prefer such art forms as collage and assemblage. I also paint, make jewelry, journals and mosaics. I am an incurable “pack-rat” and incorporate all types of found objects into my mixed media pieces. As a ‘friend of the Earth’, I love to find ways to reuse items that would ordinarily find their way into the waste stream and transform them into useful and/or beautiful things. My work has been featured in several local galleries and shows (Downriver Council for the Arts, Grosse Ile Arts Alliance, Grosse Pointe Art Center, Anton Art Center, Found Gallery, and the Heidelberg Project.) I was recently selected as an Art-o-mat artist.Examples of my work can be found in my Etsy shop: Alternative Art: www.Etsy.com/shops/calt23 Along with making and exhibiting art, I also teach a variety of Art Workshops and Camps for adults and children.
