Desert Night
View vide at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bRlwg5Qkl8 The top of this piece is a bug zapper. Inside the zapper screens is an empty birdhouse illuminated by black lights. The sculpture is largely made of steel with some wood. It is substantial (standing 11 feet tall by 36" wide) and solidly built, the electric components are 6 feet off the ground which keeps it out of reach of children and it has finger proof screens to keep fingers away from the zapper elements. It is weather proof. The piece is best at night as it arcs with bug kills and glows like a luminous flower protecting a stamen with no chance of life.
