TreeFish

A collaboration between Mark Aeling/Catherine Woods Since we heard that Michiganians are somewhat fond of fishing, (‘eat, sleep, fish’’ is how my Michigan pals put it) we want to create an installation honoring that pastime. But with a twist. Multiple castings of Michigan’s state fish, the brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis), would be suspended in trees on popular pedestrian venues; imagine a school of brightly colored fish swimming though the tree canopy in downtown Grand Rapids Please see photos of the test -run installation. A friend from Grand Rapids scouted a few desirable trees for installation and suggested the following: the trees on the side of GRAM, the trees outside of BigB coffee, and a copse of trees by the river. Please see attached images of proposed sites. Please note that the fish are lightweight and will not harm the trees from which they are suspended. The fish are durable enough to withstand any weather condition. Please visit our websites to see
