By the Dripping Tree
“By the Dripping Tree” is a multi-media instalaltion which incldues an ambitious compilation of sculpture, large-scale aluminum panels, video and sound. The proposal is site specific and will be hosted by the Grand Rapids Art Museum “By the Dripping Tree” captures the marriage of light and movement and water’s uncanny ability to convey allegory. I hope to create an immersive environment where viewers can explore the multifaceted components of water, a substance we are always in fear of having too much of or too little. The large-scale aluminum pieces consist of multiple moving panels. For example, “Whispering Pause” consists of 16 panels and has been installed to cover a 9 foot column and a wall. All the aluminum panel pieces detailed in my work images are created to be flexible for multiple installation options: corners, ceilings, walls, columns, etc. I think of each space as a puzzle and the artwork as pieces, I’m very excited to delve into each new space.
