"Color Out the Darkness" by Carol Roeda is a semicircle of twenty five 10-foot-tall pillars constructed from simple materials: cardboard, tar paper, wood, metal, and paint. The exterior of the colonnade is meant to appear somewhat intimidating, while the inside, awash with color, welcomes the viewer into celebration and hope. I've created this piece with partial support from the Salvation Army of Western Michigan and Northern Indiana, an organization that seeks to extend hope and light in our community by meeting the human needs of all people, without discrimination.
