Carol Jurgens

Jurgens received her BA at Calvin College, MFA at Western Michigan University and MS at Grand Valley State University. She taught/lectured painting, drawing and communication, is an installation/performance artist/painter whose ideas flux between environmental/cultural landscapes, and realities/phenomenon. Her prose/poems act as conceptual springboards to her landscapes. She was owner/director and curator of one of the first contemporary galleries in Grand Rapids; Guest Curator at Buckham Gallery, Flint, MI; selected by Michael Hall, Cranbrook Academy of Art, to represent West Michigan in his project “Same Site/Different Sight” (reviewed in Dialogue and New Art Examiner); and exhibited her paintings at Hill Gallery, Birmingham, MI, and the Navy Pier International Exhibition (Chicago). Her recent installation “Shifting Horizon”, (collaborator Freeman) exhibited at HAAC, Holland MI, and her performance; “Split Horizon”, at Aquinas College, Grand Rapids.
