Heart Of NOLA
After visiting New Orleans multiple times it captured my heart. The history, culture and atmosphere is like nowhere else. The heart of the city was nearly ripped out in 2005 by Hurricane Katrina, but today in 2011 it beats strong. This piece is a tribute to a great American treasure and a symbol of perseverance in the face of disaster. This is a life sized portrail of the interior of a Hurricane Katrina ravaged home. Though only two walls and a section of floor this will truly give you a glimpse of the state much of New Orleans is in even today. Also a painting I did of a Fleur De Lis will be hanging on the wall, paint running down from the waterline of the flood. The "Heart of NOLA" is meant to touch, inspire and evoke emotions on many levels. Thank you to director Spike Lee's film company I was able to get materials from actual damaged homes in the Lower 9th Ward to use on this project.
