The Archetypes of the Unconscious

Cam DeCaussin's avatar Cam DeCaussin

Within the labyrinth that is the mind, exists a place of both understanding and mystery. The unknown remains intriguing however, for each new revelation we discover, more abnormality can be found. There exists a pattern within all of us, similar behaviors, repetitious thoughts, dreams. It is in this maze that we must face our own conflicts, desires and aspirations, coming to a realization as to what we are truly trying to achieve. The imagery in this piece takes place at a junction within a home. There is a stairwell leading up, on down, and a doorway. The stairway down is illuminated representing the familiar, while the slightly ajar door and the darkness at the top of the stairs suggests the unknown. The painting is 100" X 76" X 2"
