Balancing Act

"Balancing Act" is a life size rock sculpture installation in the reflecting pool at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. The illusion is that stacks of balanced rocks are supported by columns of water. The stacks of rocks besides being held up by geysers of water, are fountains themselves with water coming out of the top stones. There is lots of water action and sound with this installation. People the world over are drawn to wet rocks on the sea shore and many love to make stacks of balanced rocks and this piece has all of that and more. The opportunity to display my work in the reflecting pool at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum led me to create “Balancing Act”. The reflecting pool was a blank slate for my installation piece. I designed and engineered all parts of “Balancing Act” both above and below the water.
