When all is lost, there is a desire to live on, even if the means of doing so is irrational or desperate. I propose to provide a means for gallery visitors to send a “message in a bottle” for potential survivors of the 2012 apocalypse. Visitors to the installation will have the opportunity to record a video and see it dispersed into hanging video pendants installed in the gallery. The collective experiences of the visitors will be mapped into the gallery space and played back continuously. After a period of inactivity, the bottles will silently and randomly cycle through previous recordings.
