Ever since I was a child, I have combined my love of drawing with an active imagination to create unique and unusual imagery. I have found that drawing was the perfect way to express my thoughts free of conscious control; like drawing a dream. In college, I began to study surrealistic art and found much inspiration in what I discovered. I rather enjoy art when it contains the element of surprise and an absence of reason. Many of my bizarre images are said to be thought provoking as well as somewhat disturbing. When it comes to answering questions about my art work, I like to use a quote from Surrealist artist Salvador Dali “There is only one difference between a madman and me, I am not mad.” The type of work I have been producing recently is mostly done with graphite pencil. Graphite helps give me the precision and detail I strive for. Also, the contrast between light and shadow and the depth it creates has become a staple in my work.
