At ArtPrize this year we are taking a closer look at what it means to value diversity and our commitment to intentional inclusion. Thanks to the Grand Rapids Community Foundation and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, we have the opportunity to act on this value system.

We are excited to launch a new program called Rapid Rides to ArtPrize. This program offers free Event Guides and Wristbands —good for free transportation on The Rapid and DASH transit systems during the 19 days of ArtPrize—for our community members who would specifically benefit from this free resource due to income insecurity or language barriers.

And we can’t do this without you! Through this initiative, ArtPrize wishes to extend an invitation to community organizations to join the cause and distribute Wristbands throughout your community.

Curious about how to get involved? Here is what you need to do:

  • Let us know you want to distribute Wristbands by e-mailing community@artprize.org
  • Let us know how many you would like to distribute: 50, 100 or 250. Commitment to giving out the number requested is quite important. Deadline is September 5th at 5 p.m.
  • We will deliver your wristbands and Event Guides to you between September 11 – 13, 2014!

Through this program, we hope to diversify our audience and reduce barriers in both understanding of and access to ArtPrize. We also hope this helps educate our community about the simplicity and efficiency of our public transportation system.

We are excited to have you as a partner in our mission and belief that art is for everyone. The most captivating conversations happen when our audience reflects the diversity of our community!

Please feel free to email us anytime: community@artprize.org.

Our best,

Amelea and Mercedes
