As an organization, we are constantly asking how we can make ArtPrize a more sustainable event, how we can be friendlier to the earth. We are conscious of things such as recycling materials, using compostable items for all events, and encouraging digital resources opposed to printing (aka using the mobile app to vote and find information!). And as Experience Coordinator, I am particularly concerned about how we can reduce the carbon footprint of ArtPrize through our transportation solutions.
The City of Grand Rapids offers two amazing already-existing public transportation solutions, and this year we are thrilled about showcasing these transportation systems. The Rapid Bus and DASH bus systems will be providers for your long range explorations.
On top of this, we here at ArtPrize love taking in the fresh air of Grand Rapids, and this is especially fun during the hustle and bustle of the ArtPrize season crowds. Biking is an easy and accessible way to travel around the city quickly while engaging in the energy that you bring to the city. Last but definitely not least, we’ve create Walking Paths directing you into all the 5 distinct neighborhoods of the ArtPrize district. These paths will give you a wide lens view on Grand Rapids and, to be completely honest, ArtPrize is fairly walkable so walking can allow for a lot of investigation.
Exposing Grand Rapids to you is my job and I am so excited about it! There are more details on each of the three transportation options coming soon. Ciao!By Annie DeYoung on
