September 25: Jurors' Shortlist Announcement

The ArtPrize Nine Category Award Jurors will present and discuss their Top 20 picks at the Jurors’ Shortlist Event, broadcast live on WOOD TV8. Artists submitted 1,346 entries into one of four categories including 2-D, 3-D, Time-Based, and Installation. A fifth category award will be given to an ArtPrize Venue for outstanding curatorial presentation. During the Jurors’ Shortlist Event, category award jurors—each experts in their given categories—will offer unique perspectives on the landscape of ArtPrize Nine entries.

October 2 & 3: Why These Finalists?

You won't want to miss the two-part Critical Discourse series, "Why These Finalists?" On October 2 and 3, a panel of three art experts will discuss half of the public and juried finalists in a lively, humorous, and irreverent debate—further exploring the tension between public and expert approaches to assessing art, and seek to answer the burning questions often asked on each side of the debate. Both nights will be broadcast live on WOOD TV8.

ASK YOURSELF

Art needs you, and your opinion. When you’re standing in front of a work of art, follow these steps:

  1. Take a moment to pause and experience the work of art.
  2. What do you see or hear? What is happening?
  3. Why is it the way that it is? The artist statement can help with this.
  4. How does it relate to your own life, feelings, or ideas? Does it challenge you?
  5. Vote—do you think this work of art is successful?

VOTE FOR ART!

At ArtPrize, your voice counts! If you're 13 or older, you can cast votes in support of your favorite artworks. For the first time ever, in Round 2 of voting, you'll have the chance to consider and vote on the jury's picks and they'll take your picks into consideration as well. Vote using the ArtPrize mobile app -- free for iOS and Android -- or visit any ArtPrize HUB.
