GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., August 21, 2013 - Approaching its fifth event, the non-profit ArtPrize organization today launched ArtClub, a membership program featuring more than a dozen perks for people who want to enhance their overall ArtPrize experience, while supporting one fothe country’s leading contemporary art events. Jerry Saltz, senior art critic for New York magazine and former ArtPrize Grand Prize Juror and artist Adonna Khare, whose “Elephants” won the 2012 Public Vote, will serve as ArtClub co-chairs. ArtClub evolved from a pilot membership program launched at ArtPrize last year.

Registration for ArtClub and complete details of benefits are available at artprize.org/artclub

ArtPrize has emerged as one of the fastest growing non-profit organizations in Michigan. Creating community through the art of our time fuels its growth. More than 400,000 people enjoy the event every year during 19 days in September and October. It creates unprecedented engagement from the general public by deciding winners through public vote.

“I would say that ArtPrize is one of the best art experiences I have ever had. Where I was humbled. I learned things. I got out of myself. I talked to people in ways that just blew me away,” said Saltz, who served on the 2012 Grand Prize Jury. “ArtPrize is an idea that deserves to be supported. An ArtClub membership is a great way to offer that support.”

ArtClub memberships start at $30 for an individual. Central to the membership is access to an all-new ArtPrize Clubhouse at J. Gardellas Tavern. Open 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. during ArtPrize, the Clubhouse will be a private “lounge” for ArtClub members and credentialed artists, venues, sponsors and media to relax and connect.

“We listened to our existing members, and the Clubhouse responds to everyone who is seeking an in-depth, in-person dialogue with the artists, sponsors and fellow members who are creating the ArtPrize experience,” said Amelea Pegman, community engagement director at ArtPrize. “With the launch of ArtClub, we are inviting the ArtPrize community to make this event their own, while ensuring that ArtPrize is around for generations to come.”

ArtClub invites the community to ensure the future of ArtPrize’s financial sustainability while offering a more in-depth opportunity to enter the ArtPrize dialogue. Every dollar donated through the membership program will be matched 4x by a grant secured by ArtPrize.

“ArtClub gives visitors and artists more ways to build connections with one another, for me - that’s what ArtPrize is all about,” added Khare. “Taking part in ArtPrize and being with people in Grand Rapids completely changed my life and my work. I am really impressed that there is a program like ArtClub at ArtPrize.”

Individuals, friends and families who are looking to support the world’s largest art competition and help ensure that ArtPrize grows come are invited to join ArtClub with memberships starting at $30. As a 501(c)3 organization, money donated as to sustain the future of ArtPrize is tax-deductible, as applicable.
