Long-time ArtPrize Venue and music hub, St. Cecilia Music Center, is taking a one-year hiatus from the annual event as they undergo renovations to their historic building. Stepping up to be the spot for all things music at ArtPrize Eight is The Blue Bridge Venue, organized by Quinn Mathews of WYCE’s GRLive radio show.

As this music venue update came in the midst of 2016 Artist Registration, ArtPrize will extend the Registration and Connections deadlines for musicians and artists of all mediums by one week. Artist Registration will now run through June 9 at 5:00 p.m. EST, and Connections through June 23 at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Musicians connected with The Blue Bridge Venue will have the opportunity to compete for $10,000 in independently-organized awards, decided equally by public vote and expert jury. Ten $1,000 prizes will be awarded, two in each category: Rock/Blues, Classical, Jazz, Folk/Country, and Pop/Electronica.

September 30-October 1 will bring two days of main-stage music with The Blue Bridge Music Festival. The festival will offer paid performance opportunities to ArtPrize artists, who will take the stage alongside several West Michigan bands and performers to be announced soon.

Throughout the 19-day event, The Blue Bridge Sessions will bring 30-minute busking performance opportunities to the banks of the Grand River, except during the Blue Bridge Music Festival. ArtPrize artists will have the opportunity to perform live for visitors to promote their songs.
