After having spent decades as a scientist using various kinds of machinery to study neurons, I now enjoy just using my senses to perceive Lake Michigan, the dunes and the vast sky above it all. Instead of the limited arsenal of scientific dyes to stain brain tissue, a whole world of mineral, organic and synthetic dyes now offer itself for painting nature. Perceiving, comprehending and capturing the changing raw energy of the dunes are a challenge of my current career as an artist. -- To paint people relating to nature, I am learning to draw the human figure in a NYC art studio. ---- Juried exhibitions: 2010 Oliver Art Center, Frankfurt, MI; 2012 The Dennos Museum Center, Traverse City, MI; 2013 The Dennos Museum Center, Traverse City, MI; 2014 Oliver Art Center, Frankfurt, MI. --- Group exhibitions: 2011 Spring Studio, New York; 2012 Spring Studio, New York; 2013 Spring Studio, New York; 2017 Crooked Tree Arts Center, Traverse City, MI; 2018 Spring Studio, New York. ---- Publications of Art work: The Art of the Sleeping Bear Dunes, page 44. 2013 Leelanau Press; The Artists’ Round Table, pages 108 – 115. 2016 Mitchell Graphics.
