It's a Fact
2012 ArtPrize EntryThe techniques used in this piece include a variety of collaged papers, oil paint, and charcoal drawings. I wanted to create a piece that represents my sense of humor, my love of the macabre, and my interest in facts and education. I also wanted to create a piece that reveals information slowly and engages the viewer. The idea behind this new body of work came from a Snapple cap. The fact was: Antarctica is the only continent with no owls. That made me think; what other fun facts are there about animals that the general public doesn't know? I also remembered that I had a subscription to Zoo Books as a child. I have always been interested in animal facts, genetics, and skeletal structures. I am just finally getting around to creating work on this life long interest.
