Peace Totem

"Peace Totem" was conceived in direct opposition to today's dire global events and pop culture's fascination with apocalyptic themes. To counter society's doom and gloom we have a glimpse of a gentler moment. Exploring Native American composition and meaning in previous artistic expression (see "Tipi Dream" Art Prize 2012) this totem was given form. I looked to Christian imagery for theme while keeping true to Native American style.. Inspired by the book of Isaiah 11:6, where all God's creatures are in harmony with one another. Lion and lamb, eagle and dove provide examples of intentional contentment when peace is enacted. The top tier occupied by woman as an angel celebrates the quintessential symbol of peacemaker and peacekeeper.
