Blind Side
2012 ArtPrize EntryThe "Blind Side" is a body of work that explores opposites. I have always been intrigued by opposites and feel that the life experience certainly contains some rather unsettling contrasts, presenting a spectrum between good and evil, birth and death, and light and dark. As much as we strive towards self determination, there is always that element of uncertainty and fate is often just out of our control. Coupled with these polar opposites are the elements of surprise, curiosity and mystery. To convey life's duality, I have chosen to paint on actual blinds that the viewer then opens to the opposing canvas beneath. Currently, the "Blind Side" consists of twelve pieces. # 1 is shown above. Please watch the brief video to see the entire series.
