Barb Kent is an artist and an art educator residing in the greater Grand Rapids area. She grew up in Lansing, Michigan, and has two sons. She enjoys outdoor activities, especially up north and on Elk Lake. Her passions include teaching, creating artwork, traveling, attending shows/concerts and sporting events. Currently she is teaching art at Rockford High School and is an adjunct faculty member at Kendall College of Art and Design of FSU. Barb’s work has been displayed in Petoskey, Michigan at Crooked Tree Arts Center; in Brighton, Michigan at Studio West Gallery; in Grand Rapids, Michigan in Celebration of the Arts; and in Lowell, Michigan in the West Michigan Regional Artists’ Show. Her work has also been displayed in private collections in Maryland and in Michigan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from CMU, master’s degree from MSU, and has studied at Columbia College in Chicago. Barb enjoys working in mixed media and is continuing to explore different combinations of various mediums for both symbolic and aesthetic results.
