Artist bio When she founded Knitta in 2005, Magda Sayeg was responding to the growing need to exert handmade influence over the mass produced urban landscape. Magda touched a nerve, and six years later knit graffiti is an international phenomenon, a legend of knitting turned on its head. Part textile design and part DIY, the once functional homemaker’s craft is now a stalwart fixture in the world of street art. Considered to be the mother of knit graffiti, Magda has taken her show on the road, leading community-based projects and participating in shows at Milan's Triennale Design Museum, Le M.U.R. in Paris, and the National Gallery of Australia, among others.
